mvIMPACT Barcode

The Barcode Reader is a software module that identifies 1D-Barcodes and extracts encoded data. MATRIX VISION's robust and fast algorithms allow to identify symbols captured in a wide range of illumination conditions, symbol sizes, resolution, and symbol quality. Identification and extraction is performed in a completely automated mode: training and presetting are optional.

The code reader module is able to decode all major types:

Barcodes are commonplace in various applications where they are used for identification and tracking purposes. They are a low cost and well accepted technology known for its reliability and ease of implementation.

Numerous symbologies have been introduced in the course of history, supporting different character sets, various amounts of information and built-in redundancy (check digits). One or more standards are in use in each different industry.

A good barcode reader hast to be fast and able to robustly locate a symbol in any orientation and contrast, and possibly damaged. For better convenience, it hast to be able to automatically discriminate between the supported encodings.

Automatic location

The reader is able to find a barcode whatever the size and bar thickness and with arbitrary orientation and angle, even in a complex image. This is a fully automatic process requiring no training.

For improved performance, the search area can be restricted to a known area of interest.

The symbol type is automatically detected, but pre-selection is also possible. Additional symbologies can be supported upon request.
