| MATRIX VISION - innovative and versatile for 20 years | |||||||||||||
Innovation and changeability are the keys to competitiveness. This shows also the company history of MATRIX VISION GmbH located in Oppenweiler, Germany: Beginning as a small control and analysis software company MATRIX VISION has evolved into a leading and worldwide operating company in the industrial image processing industry. In 1986 Gerhard Thullner and Werner Armingeon founded the Matrix Datensysteme. The company developed software for chemical analysis devices and worked with Atari computers at that time. These computers outmatched the PCs in speed and memory, but had one disadvantage, the small 12 inch monitors. To eliminate this drawback the first Atari graphics card for 19 inch monitors was developed. The product was the hit on the CeBIT 1988 and was the access to the graphics and video technique and foundation stone for the global market leadership in the Atari graphics card market. In the year 1990 the market was in flux. PCs became better, cheaper and more favoured and Matrix changed over. Although the demand was great for PC graphics cards, Matrix focused on the more constant industrial image procesing market. First frame grabbers were developed and potential customers were addressed directly as well as contracts successfully acquired. Given that, since 1992, the focus has been exclusively on the image processing market MATRIX VISION was founded. In 1994 with the help of the INTOs philosophy the company was established in the market. After the mutability the innovation followed: until 1999 frame grabbers and customer specific products were developed, afterwards the first PC compatible intelligent camera mvCAM-PC was added and in 2001 the second intelligent camera mvBlueLYNX followed. Since 2000 MATRIX VISION offers the image processing library mvIMPACT and with it a suitable software for the image processing market. The increasing demand for MATRIX VISION products also abroad leaded to the foundation of the subsidiary company MATRIX VISION France in Paris in 2003. In the year 2004 a new product category could be presented, the standard cameras. Right from the start the industrial USB 2.0 camera mvBlueFOX as well as their OEM alternative showed a great customer acceptance and was further a validation for the innovative work at MATRIX VISION. As an additional OEM product the mvBlueLYNX single-board version was on hand. At the beginning of the last year a newness was obtainable, the first PCI-Express frame grabber mvSIGMA-SQe. Since this year MATRIX VISION offers a further PCI-Express frame grabber called mvHYPERION-CLe as well as a further standard camera for Gigabit Ethernet networks called mvBlueCOUGAR. Today MATRIX VISION has 46 employees and a worldwide distribution with partners and direct sales in Germany, Austria, France, Switzerland and Italy. The product range is unequalled worldwide and well prepared for the further on growing and changing industrial image processing market. |
