Newsletter 01/2020

Hello,

In these times of the coronavirus, we have also adapted our working processes. For example, wherever possible we are working on a mobile basis or have switched our production to a two-shift operation. This means that nothing has changed as far as you are concerned. You can continue to contact us during our normal business hours and there will be no change to our delivery times either for old or new orders.

Unfortunately, our trade fair calendar has experienced a major shake-up. So that we can still present you with our latest innovations, we will be taking part in the "Challenge: Productivity" virtual event held by Balluff GmbH, which is taking place on April 21 and 22.

Take care of yourselves at this difficult time and stay healthy!

Best wishes,
Your MATRIX VISION Team

4th Generation Pregius sensors ready to go

With the 4th generation of Pregius sensors, Sony has once again improved the performance of the Global Shutter IMX CMOS sensors. The new generation is based on the BSI pixel architecture (BSI = back side illumination), whereby the electrical wiring of the pixels is located under the photo diode. Since this enables the photo diode to absorb more light, the pixel size of the sensor could be reduced while producing the same quality. This, in turn, enables higher resolutions as well as higher image and data rates.

With the IMX540 (24.6 MPix), the IMX541 (20.4 MPix) and the IMX542 (16.2 MPix), three Gen4 representatives will be available by Q3 2020 in our mvBlueCOUGAR-XD and mvBlueFOX3-2 product families with the following, planned basic data:

  • mvBlueCOUGAR-XD1016 (Dual-GigE)

    • 1.1" CMOS sensor IMX542

    • 16.2 Mpixels (5328 x 3040)

    • 14.6 / 25.5 fps (Streaming / Burst) at full resolution

  • mvBlueCOUGAR-XD1020a (Dual-GigE)

    • 1.1" CMOS sensor IMX541

    • 20.4 Mpixels (4512 x 4512)

    • 11.6 / 20 fps (Streaming / Burst) at full resolution

  • mvBlueCOUGAR-XD1025 (Dual-GigE)

    • 1.2" CMOS sensor IMX540

    • 24.6 Mpixels (5328 x 4608)

    • 9.6 / 17.6 fps (Streaming / Burst) at full resolution

  • mvBlueFOX3-2162 (USB 3)

    • 1.1" CMOS sensor IMX542

    • 16.2 Mpixels (5328 x 3040)

    • 23.4 / 25.5 fps (Streaming / Burst) at full resolution

  • mvBlueFOX3-2204 (USB 3)

    • 1.1" CMOS sensor IMX541

    • 20.4 Mpixels (4512 x 4512)

    • 18.6 / 20 fps (Streaming / Burst) at full resolution

  • mvBlueFOX3-2246 (USB 3)

    • 1,2" CMOS-Sensor IMX540

    • 24,6 Mpixels (5328 x 4608)

    • 15,4 / 17,6 fps (Streaming / Burst) at full resolution

GigE cameras support das IEEE1588 Precision Time Protocol (PTP)

With the new firmware release 2.37.2285.0, our gigabit Ethernet families mvBlueCOUGAR-X and mvBlueCOUGAR-XD will support the IEEE1588 Precision Time Protocol (PTP).

The PTP will enable several GigE cameras to be synchronized in the same network. The images recorded will be given the same timestamp and can thus be assigned – a basic requirement for 3D applications, for example.

mvIMPACT Acquire SDK with Java support

Release 2.36.0 sees the launch of the first version of the Java wrapper for the mvIMPACT Acquire SDK. This version is still experimental and may be subject to changes without further notice. These will then be described in detail in the manual.

Since this is the first version of the interface, we would of course welcome any feedback.

mvIMPACT-CS launched in version 2.6

One of the most important features of release 2.6 is the "Calibrate robot" tool. Using the robot control system provided or an implemented interim application, travel commands for the robots can be calculated based on the calibration. This means that coordinate results of tools such as "Find object" or "Check blobs" can be used in conjunction with the robot control system to enable the robot to approach a found object, for example.
Furthermore, there is a new TCP/UDP/RS232 protocol which will make messages significantly shorter and communication more efficient.
The following tools have also been optimized: "Set up camera" (new calibration plates), "Check object" (new output values), "Check brightness" (new output value), "Filter image" (more details on error messages) and the time zone setting function has been improved (location).
