mvBlueCOUGAR-P - intelligent Gigabit Ethernet Kameras with GigE Vision
Whereas pure GigE cameras only use their processor power for handling incoming and outcoming data, the mvBlueCOUGAR-P camera MATRIX VISION focuses on an intelligent concept, which taps the full potential of the GigE cameras.
Intelligence in a camera means, that the camera executes the image processing at the sensor directly and only transfers the relevant data. This approach offers several essential advantages. On the one hand, the camera saves bandwidth. This saving again can be used for cameras with higher resolutions and frame rates or to scale the system with more cameras without any problems. On the other hand a processing server has not to make low level processings of the single cameras anymore. For this reason, the camera is suited mainly to applications in the security industry or in the industrial inspection, where a multitude of cameras is used and a large amount of data is processed.
The GigE camera mvBlueCOUGAR-P has a widespread range of sensors: CCD sensors with the resolutions 640 x 480 pixels (frame rate: 100 Hz), 1024 x 768 pixels (39 Hz) und 1600 x 1200 pixels (16 Hz) in each case as color and gray scale versions, CMOS sensors with the resolution of 1280 x 1024 pixels (30 Hz) also as gray scale version. Additionally the camera offers two digital inputs and two digital outputs for trigger and flash. With 64 MB SDRAM the mvBlueCOUGAR-P has enough memory to reduce delays during the sending and reception of data packages effectively.
C-mount as well as CS-mount and S-mount lens holder versions are available. For power supply to the camera the Ethernet interface can be used (so called PoE - Power over Ethernet). The Ethernet interface can also be operated in 100 Mbit networks.
Internally the camera has an Embedded Linux as the operating system. For this reason, it is possible to use many Open source projects with the camera directly. Furthermore, you can develop programs for the camera with standard C and C++, which is an essential difference to other limited GigE cameras, which only acquire and transfer images.
Furthermore, the camera supports the GigE Vision interface standard. The end user benefits from this standard: the hardware can be replaced easily. Therefore, the quality of the camera gets the main argument during the product choice. In spite of its intelligence, the mvBlueCOUGAR-P is compliant to GenICam, the software interface to GigE Vision. This is unique and eases as well as automates the configuration work of the cameras significantly.
