New high-end RGB frame grabber with on-board image processor for industrial image processing

Powerful mvTITAN-RGB frame grabber for capturing RGB and other standard color signals or for simultaneous capture from up to four gray scale cameras. The German manufacturer MATRIX VISION presents, with the mvTITAN-RGB, a new model from a series of high-end PCI bus frame grabbers. The flexible video interface with programmable capture control covers nearly all types of standard and non-standard signals. RGB and other color signals as well as gray scale sources may be captured with the frame grabber. Even restart/reset applications with progressive scan RGB cameras are no problem for the mvTITAN-RGB. Four AD converters working in parallel allow simultaneous capture of up to four gray scale sources with the flexible camera controller being used to synchronize the cameras. The large computing power of the integrated image processor is also outstanding. It opens up image processing possibilities in many application areas. The local memory of mvTITAN-G1 isolates the image transfer operation and ensures error-free image data transfer even when the system is handling a heavy workload. The memory is configured with 8 MB in the standard version. Up to 32 MB of memory is optionally available. The image processor of the frame grabber has additional processing engines which, in addition to the freely programmable image processing CPU, provide the capability to carry out parallel color space conversion, scaling, interpolation and filtering operations. An image can be converted in parallel to different color spaces and transferred to various destinations: main memory, VGA display. The high processor power of mvTITAN matches or exceeds that of conventional CPUs and DSPs in image processing operations. The most important thing is, this power is permanently available and is not compromised in any way by applications or peripheral devices as is sometimes the case with the system CPU. Thus, real-time image processing can be implemented reliably. An additional plus-point for the local image processor is the scalability of its power by additional mvTITAN Grabbers. With every grabber added, the power of the local image processor increases accordingly. In the case of single grabbers, on the other hand, each additional video input used reduces proportional power per input channel. The mvTITAN-RGB may be quickly and efficiently put to use due to the large amount of software support by standard applications, libraries or by simple programming of the image processor in C or C++. It is usually enough to recompile algorithms to port them to the image processor. The MATRIX VISION Impact software is available. It is a comprehensive library containing important image processing algorithms. The fundamental functions in the Impact Basic Library can even be used by MATRIX VISION customers without a license. All current Windows operating systems as well as LINUX are supported.
