New Sony CMOS IMX250/252 sensors in the pipeline for the GigE and USB3 Vision cameras

Following on from the enormous success of the new IMX174/249 Global Shutter CMOS sensors, Sony is introducing yet more new models. The most significant development seen with the 1/1.8" IMX250 and 2/3" IMX252 sensors is the reduction in pixel size to 3.45 µm by Sony, which positions them at the forefront of their segment. When used in conjunction with C-Mount lenses, the increased pixel density provides higher resolution images when compared with the IMX174 and IMX249 sensors. Thanks to further decreased image noise levels, the dynamic range remains practically unchanged at levels in excess of 71 dB, resulting in improved image quality with a higher resolution, as well as an increased image refresh rate.
